Alan Hovhaness was an incredibly productive American composer of Armenian descent. He was known primarily for his (approx) 70 ( numbered and unnumbered ) Symphonies . His piano music turns out to be a real discovery and is available on this CD on the Dynamic label. Some of the pieces on this CD are world premiere recordings.
